Chelsea FC – Sky: Rüdiger’s advisor is in talks with FC Barcelona

London (AP) – FC Barcelona is interested in the German national soccer player Antonio Rüdiger from Chelsea.

As reported by the British broadcaster Sky Sports, Rüdiger’s agent and half-brother Sahr Senesie met in a restaurant in Barcelona on March 30 for talks with Barça-
officials to discuss a potential move for the 29-year-old defender next season.

Rüdiger is free in the summer. Because Chelsea FC has been subjected to severe sanctions by the British government for the alleged closeness of its owner Roman Abramovich to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the club is currently not allowed to transfer players or conduct contract negotiations and therefore has to stand by and watch when international top clubs find the coveted defender court.

On the other hand, Cesar Azpilicueta’s contract with Chelsea, which expired in the summer, was automatically extended until 2023 because the defender played the minimum number of games for the Londoners. The Spaniard is also said to have been on the Catalans’ wish list, as was Andreas Christensen, whose contract, like Rüdiger’s, expires at the end of the season.
