Chelsea FC | Media: Tuchel and Lukaku buried hatchet

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has admitted in an interview with coach Thomas Tuchel that his controversial television interview in Italy was a mistake, according to a media report.

As the TV broadcaster “Sky Sports” reported, the Belgian international will not leave Chelsea FC in the two transfer windows this winter or summer. The club from the Premiere League has not yet commented on the conversation between the top striker and the German coach that took place on Monday, according to the media.

In an interview with the Italian branch of Sky Sports, recorded a few weeks ago but first broadcast on December 30th, Lukaku said he was dissatisfied with his role at the club and would like to return to Inter Milan in the near future .

The 28-year-old had complained about too little time and indirectly criticized Tuchel. But now, according to the report, Lukaku admitted that he should not have made these comments. They had led to Tuchel removing him from the squad at the home game against Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool (2-2) on January 2nd.

A departure from Chelsea was never discussed in the conversation with Tuchel, “Sky Sports” said. Lukaku had only moved from Milan to London last summer. With an estimated equivalent of around 115 million euros, it is the most expensive transfer in Chelsea’s club history.
