The much sought-after Ecuadorian international Moisés Caicedo surprisingly extended his contract with Brighton & Hove Albion early. The 21-year-old midfielder signed a new working paper until June 30, 2027, which comes with a significant salary increase and an option for a further year.
Caicedo got off to a flying start with “Seagulls” last year, his market value rose from 4.5 million to 38 million euros. The midfielder has attracted interest from Premier League top clubs but multi-million dollar bids from Chelsea (€62m) and Arsenal (€79m) were rejected in January. Caicedo, who actually wanted to change, had missed a few days of training because of this.

“This is fantastic news for the club, our fans, for me and especially for Moisés. It will make us even stronger on the way to our goals on the pitch,” said coach Roberto De Zerbi. Caicedo, who signed from Independiente del Valle in early 2021 for €5m, made his Premier League debut in April 2022 and has since played a total of 29 games in the English top flight, in which he was directly involved in four goals.
Moises Caicedo has committed his long-term future to the Albion by agreeing a new contract that runs until 2027, with a club option for an extra year.
