Wanted to change in January
The much sought-after Ecuadorian international Moisés Caicedo surprisingly extended his contract with Brighton & Hove Albion early. The 21-year-old midfielder signed a new working paper until June 30, 2027, which comes with a significant salary increase and an option for a further year.
Caicedo got off to a flying start with “Seagulls” last year, his market value rose from 4.5 million to 38 million euros. The midfielder has attracted interest from Premier League top clubs but multi-million dollar bids from Chelsea (€62m) and Arsenal (€79m) were rejected in January. Caicedo, who actually wanted to change, had missed a few days of training because of this.

Caicedo, who signed from Independiente del Valle in early 2021 for €5m, made his Premier League debut in April 2022 and has since played a total of 29 games in the English top flight, in which he was directly involved in four goals.
