On Friday evening, civilian police officers noticed an Audi on Residenzstrasse in Reinickendorf and decided to check the driver.

They signaled the young man to stop with blue lights and a siren – but he accelerated and sped away.

The police officers gave chase. According to the police, when turning from Friedrich-Wilhelm-Strasse into Breitkopfstrasse, the driver lost control of the Audi and collided with two parked vehicles!

Despite the crash, the getaway driver continued to race and lost control of the car again a little later: when turning left from Raschdorfstrasse into Sommerstrasse, the Audi left the roadway. He crashed into three parked vehicles and landed on the sidewalk. According to the police, a passer-by had to jump to the side to avoid being hit by the car.

The two occupants of the Audi ran away on foot after the accident. The police caught up with the driver (23) and arrested him. During the arrest, one of the two officers injured his finger.

Police said the driver did not have a driver’s license. He was taken into police custody and then released. The confiscated Audi came to the police safekeeping area. The investigations are ongoing.
