Charlotte Hornets announced that they have released Kai Jones. The Hornets’ move comes two days after Jones publicly requested a trade on Twitter.
Jones did not attend training camp for “personal reasons” and it was unclear when he would return.
The Bahamian player, who was selected as the 19th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft after two seasons at the University of Texas, averaged 2.7 points and 2 rebounds in 9.1 minutes in 67 games in two seasons.
