Charli XCX celebrated her new record BRAT throughout the year – which also included many live shows. The Brit has now admitted in an interview that she wasn’t just able to enjoy it – she often had to struggle with real pain.
The agonizing exertion makes her angry with herself
In a video interview with Variety, the 32-year-old revealed that concerts can be a challenging, painful thing for her: “I find the stage – especially at the moment – a very angry place for me.” The hyperpop star continued: ” I have done a lot of damage to my body through performing and am often in a lot of pain when I perform. I even have nerve damage in my neck from things I did on stage.”
She has to physically exhaust herself completely at a gig in order to be satisfied with her stage performance. For them, “physically throwing things around” is part of it. Still, her actions would also make Charli XCX angry at herself. “So it’s kind of a hellhole,” is her conclusion.
