He’s a long-runner at his club and one of the top performers on the defensive. That’s why the top clubs Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have him on their radar.

Nico Schlotterbeck still has a contract with SC Freiburg until June 2023, but he attracts attention with his good performance. So much so that the defender is being watched by Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, according to “Bild”.

Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann said in November before the record champions’ game against SCF about Nico Schlotterbeck: “Everyone can see that he is a good defender.” The central defender won the European Championship title with the U21s in the summer and established himself as a regular at his loan club Union Berlin last season. Back at the Breisgauer he developed into a long runner there too, played all of the season’s games from the start and made fourteen league games over 90 minutes so far.

Schlotterbeck jokes about performance and colored hair

National coach Hansi Flick has therefore already appointed him to the national team three times, but the Waibling native is still waiting for his debut. The SCF defender himself rules out a change in winter, saying after the last first round match: “I definitely don’t plan to change in winter. I said before the season that I have to see where the next step is.”

Schlotterbeck dyed his hair blonde and recently joked: “Since I dyed my hair, it’s been going somehow.” Not just for him, but also for his club. The SC Freiburg is currently in third place in the table behind the record champions and Dortmund.
