Pogacar bows deeply to the Dutchman
Oudenaarde – The acidity in his legs became too much for him, but Mathieu van der Poel never thought of giving up when Tadej Pogacar tore up like a madman. Where every other human being would capitulate, kicked MvdP through the screaming pain on the last ascent of the Paterberg. With the royal couple at the front, the Tour of Flanders had the dream final that many hoped for. An unexpected turn seemed to surprise both frontrunners, but Van der Poel still finished it magnificently, with which he may well have started a unique trilogy.
