Champions League: Manchester City travels to Leipzig late due to low storms

As of: October 3rd, 2023 1:32 p.m

A predicted storm has disrupted Manchester City’s Champions League travel plans ahead of the duel at RB. Instead of in the afternoon, the defending champions are now only expected in Leipzig on Tuesday evening.

A predicted storm has disrupted Manchester City’s travel plans to Leipzig. The defending champions actually wanted to travel to Saxony for the Champions League game on Tuesday afternoon, which would have put Pep Guardiola’s team in a stormy slump.

No citypress conference in Leipzig

The club then changed its flight times. Coach Pep Guardiola’s team is now expected in Leipzig around three hours later on Tuesday evening. The British had already completed their final training at home. The obligatory press conference before the game will also take place in Manchester and not in the Red Bull Arena.

“This is not a problem for us. The priority is to fly and land safely. The authorities had warned us that our flight could be risky,” said Guardiola. There is still enough time for his team to prepare for the match.

RB and ManCity with victories at the start

The group duel between Leipzig and the Cityzens around superstar Erling Haaland and Ex-RB defender Josko Gvardiol takes place on Wednesday (9 p.m. in the audio live stream and ticker in the SpiO app and on sport-im-osten.de). The Saxons don’t have any good memories of their last encounter. In March they lost the second leg of the round of 16 on the island 0:7 and left after that 1:1 from the first meeting. At the start of the current competition, both RB (3:1 in Bern) and City (3:1 against Red Star Belgrade) were not exposed.
