Just a week after the narrow 38:37 win at Sporting Lisbon, the Füchse Berlin also won the second leg in Group A of the Champions League.

The handball Bundesliga team beat the Portuguese champions 33:29 (16:13) in front of 5,625 spectators in the Max Schmeling Hall. With the eighth win in the eighth game, the Foxes remain leaders. The best Berlin throwers were Lasse Andersson with nine and Mathias Gidsel with eight goals.

Coach Nicolej Krickau’s team initially had some problems finding their rhythm on offense. They lost the ball a few times and initially fell behind. Thanks to goalkeeper Lasse Ludwig’s solid defense and saves, the deficit was no more than two goals.

A 6-0 run brings the preliminary decision

As the game went on, the Foxes improved their offense. And when the Portuguese made a few mistakes, the German champions were able to turn the game around with a small 3-0 run (8:6). And they were able to maintain this lead until halftime.

Immediately after the break, the hosts were able to pull ahead to 19:14. But then the Portuguese defended more offensively and the Foxes had problems.

After 45 minutes the guests equalized again (23:23). But the foxes remained unimpressed. Thanks to the saves from Ludwig, who ended up saving 15 balls, they went on a 6-0 run (30:24). And the Berliners achieved this confidently.
