Difficult moment in the Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal FC: At the final in Budapest on Saturday evening, French supporters suddenly found themselves behind the goal of Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya. They had jumped from their fan block into the interior of the stadium. A large contingent of Budapest police lined up and pushed the fans back.
The 65th minute in the Puskás Aréna: PSG superstar Ousmane Dembélé had just scored with a penalty kick to equalize for the French when all the barriers in the Paris fan block behind the “Gunners” goal broke – pyrotechnics were ignited and clouds of smoke surrounded the stands. And some of the Parisians’ supporters apparently obliviously jumped over the barrier down into the area between the goal and the stands.
The TV pictures then showed how a large contingent of police dressed all in black lined up in front of the stands in full gear, with protective helmets, batons and pepper spray and pushed the fans who had escaped back into the stands.
The game was not interrupted by the German referee Daniel Siebert. An escalation of the situation was prevented and the emergency services withdrew again after a few minutes.
