The quarterfinals are certain, from then on there is a lot of money in the Champions League. FC Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have already taken more than 60 million euros. If the German record champions or the Bundesliga competitor wins the final on May 31 in Munich, rehearsals are added to 40 million euros and the overall provisional income increases to over 100 million euros. We answer the most important questions about the further expiry of premier class 2024/25.
Why is it no longer solved in the Champions League?
The draw up to the final in Munich took place on February 21. There the tournament tree, the “Road to Munich 25”, was determined. The setting was carried out based on the placement in the league, which should gain in importance with this new procedure. The first (Liverpool) and second (Barcelona) of the league have only been able to meet in the final – Liverpool would not have failed on Paris.
When will FC Bayern and BVB continue against whom?
Bayern have to go against Inter Milan in the first half of April. The first leg will take place on April 8 in Munich, the decision on the semi-finals will be made on April 16 in the San Siro stadium. The BVB initially meets the FC Barcelona trained by Hansi Flick on April 9th. The second duel rises on April 15th.
Is there another German duel in the Champions League?
Yes – and already in the semi -finals. Should Bayern prevail against Inter and BVB against Barcelona, the next Bundesliga duel will. In the Champions League, the two rivals were last opposed to each other in 2013. At that time, Bayern won 2-1 in the final in the Wembley.
How does the Champions League affect the strain on the players?
Due to the new league mode and the round before the round of 16, the players of Bayern and BVB have already completed four royal class games more than at the same time of the pre-season. This could have even more serious effects, as these two teams represent Germany at the club World Cup in June and July. There are at least three games per team in the group phase, then it would continue with a round of 16. If one of the two teams reached the final of the Champions League and the club World Cup, the professionals would be 24 games alone in these two competitions.
What have the German clubs earned in premiums so far?
More games in football naturally mean more money. Overall, the UEFA releases 2.5 billion euros and thus half a billion more than in the previous season. So far, prize money leader is Dortmund, which has taken just over 61 million euros from inaugural, point, position, placement and round bonuses. Bavaria will follow with a good half a million euros less. Bayer 04 Leverkusen comes to around 51.35 million, VfB Stuttgart to 28.65 and RB Leipzig to around 22.1.
However, these are not yet the final income. In addition to other success premiums for Bayern and BVB, the so -called value bonus for all teams is added. Here the prize money pool is filled with 853 million euros, the maximum value for a team is 40 million, at least it is a good one million.
How do the German teams do compared to the old format so far?
Sometimes there are other teams, hardly anything has changed in the distribution according to nations compared to the previous season. Again there are two German clubs in the quarter -finals, again Bayern and BVB. There are also two clubs from England and one from France – as in the previous year. Spain has one less in the race with two teams, but Inter Milan has an Italian heavyweight.
