A 54-year-old cycling tourist suffered life-threatening injuries in a traffic accident on the N60 regional road in Leupegem on Sunday morning. “The driver of a van ignored the signal of two signaling devices and drove into Johan at full speed,” witness WT Merelbeke club mates, who saw the accident happen. The president of the cycling tourist club had given a speech just before the ride to emphasize safety. The driver (25) has since reported to the police.
