Cellar class cracker between VV Winkel and VV Nieuwe Niedorp: tension and party afterwards

In the North Holland region, the match between VV Winkel and VV Nieuwe Niedorp is the highlight of the year. Both sports parks are only a few kilometers apart and therefore a lot was at stake for the numbers eight and nine of Sunday’s fourth division.

The two teams have been each other’s archrivals for years, but last played an official match against each other in 2012. That’s why the tension was even greater than normal. “All the players also know each other from work, the village or from football. You don’t want to lose this pot,” says VV Winkel chairman Aike Minnes.

Party night

To give the match a special touch, the selection players of VV Winkel organized a whole party evening. “We have arranged a DJ and a singer. It will be a big party and I don’t think I will go home sober tonight,” explains player Bob Schaap.

NH Sport followed the derby closely. The camera was welcome in both dressing rooms and recorded the basement class cracker from the edge of the field.
