A 49-year-old man from Assen is accused of intensely harassing a woman for four months last year. She ended an early relationship at the end of April, he could not stomach this, the public prosecutor said.
A prison sentence of 189 days was required for stalking, of which 42 days were conditional. The man has already served the rest. According to the plaintiff, treatment is necessary. The man said during the court hearing today that he still wants to cooperate. The public prosecutor also demanded a contact ban with the woman and her children. “I don’t want anything to do with her anymore,” the man responded.

According to the public prosecutor, the Assen resident has continuously infringed on the woman’s privacy. This happened in an intense and compelling way, she said.
A psychologist suspects a personality disorder in the suspect, who did not want to cooperate in the investigation. The man from Assen still faces two suspended prison sentences of six weeks in total, for, among other things, stalking. He should now still serve it, the public prosecutor believes. “I regret it, it should have turned out differently,” the man finally said to the judge.
