Cees Glas brought Tarik Tissoudali to Telstar, but remains modest

Morocco will play against Gabon in the Africa Cup tonight. Former Telstar player Tarik Tissoudali may be back in action. Tissoudali made his debut for Morocco last week. Telstar scout Cees Glas ensured seven years ago that the Amsterdammer entered professional football.

“Whether I am the discoverer of Tarik Tissoudali? No, not at all!”, Glas responds modestly. After some further questions, Glas is secretly a bit proud of his discovery.

Cees Glas received a tip in 2014 to go and see Tarik Tissoudali. The then 21-year-old footballer then played for the amateurs of Sparta Nijkerk. “I went to look, found it good and brought it to Telstar,” Glas said simply.

Marcel Keizer agreed, but left a day later

Telstar’s trainer was Marcel Keizer at the time. He was convinced by Glas, but a day later it was announced that Keizer was leaving for Cambuur Leeuwarden. Glas made a gentlemen’s agreement with Keizer.
