Catherine Keyl would think it would be a good idea to make an elderly edition of Wie is de Mol, in which only celebrities over the age of 70 would participate. “There is apartheid.”
It has bothered Catherine Keyl for some time that old people like her – she will be 80 next year – are hardly asked for TV programs anymore. She leaves in the Story know that it would be a good idea to create a Who is the Mole series, in which only famous Dutch people who are over 70 years old participate.
Apartheid
Such an edition would be a good way to combat discrimination against old celebrities, according to Catherine. “Yes. Brilliant idea! In my opinion, there is apartheid in the Netherlands when it comes to age.”
She continues: “Above the age of 50, they hardly see you anymore, while many elderly people are independent and bring a lot of knowledge with them. Knowledge that is never used. Then a Who Is De Mol with seniors is extremely suitable.”
Prejudices
Those seniors would amaze the whole country, according to Catherine. “They sweep away all those prejudices in one fell swoop. You also saw this at the time in the travel program Better Late Than Never, where the elderly were also included.”
Catherine receives support from Ria Valk (84) in the magazine. She says: “I don’t watch it often, but you do need human skills. Many young people who participate in this game don’t have that yet. So I think it will be very interesting to see how people over 70 play that game. I wouldn’t want to participate. Then I would have to be away from home for far too long.”
