Catherine Keyl ended up in a wheelchair for nothing: ‘Complaint against doctor’

It’s been a horror autumn for Catherine Keyl: her life has turned into a painful nightmare over the past two months and she has even ended up in a wheelchair. “And all for nothing!”

Catherine Keyl has suddenly completely disappeared from the media, because she is at home in excruciating pain. They started suddenly seven weeks ago, completely out of the blue. She can only take a few steps before she completely collapses in pain, so her life has virtually come to a standstill. And then you are dependent on doctors who assess your situation.

Painful injection

Well, that went completely wrong in Catherine’s case. She reported to the Gooise hospital Tergooi MC seven weeks ago, but apparently they don’t do anything about it. “I was at the emergency room at the time with the neurologist (…). There she claimed that I certainly did not have a hernia,” she says Story.

No scans or photos were taken at the time, Catherine says. “But she only turned my legs a little,” said the television diva. A bursitis was diagnosed and she received a rather painful injection for it.

Second opinion

It all didn’t help at all and now Catherine has been in hospital for seven weeks, but yesterday she received good news during her second opinion at Bergman Clinics. The MRI scan she had there showed that she had a hernia in her lower back. “Between my second and third vertebrae.”

And what now? “I am now urgently receiving an injection that will reduce the pain. That knowledge alone makes me feel a lot better.”

Complaint against doctor

It makes Catherine angry that they could have made that diagnosis seven weeks later. “I really couldn’t do anything anymore. I was in bed for seven weeks! Because the pain was unbearable, I asked for a telephone consultation. She refused to answer the phone! And the assistant informed me that I had another appointment in three weeks.”

Catherine thinks it’s terrible. “I will definitely file a complaint against that doctor at Tergooi MC. Because I could have been spared all this suffering.”
