Catering entrepreneurs are having a hard time, Utrecht wants to lend them a hand | NOW

Utrecht catering entrepreneurs do not have to pay any money in 2022 for adding the first eight managers to the catering permit. That is a proposal from the Utrecht college. It would save them a nice amount: 1318 euros to be exact.

With this, the college wants to meet the sector hard hit by corona. The rates for event permits have also been reduced by 50 percent this year. Depending on the permit, this results in a saving of up to 2,714 euros.

Helping hand

Alderman for Economic Affairs Klaas Verschuure: “Entrepreneurs in the catering, culture and event industry have been hit hard by the corona measures. For example, many catering entrepreneurs have lost their staff. Building a new team offers enough challenge. We also give entrepreneurs in the cultural event industry a helping hand.”

500,000 euros

The scheme will take effect retroactively and will apply for the whole of 2022. Entrepreneurs who have already applied for a permit will automatically receive the excess amount paid back. A budget of EUR 500,000 has been reserved for the implementation of the measure. The city council will vote on the proposal later this year.
