The ‘president’ warns that the date of the eventual new referendum will depend on “the strength” that the independence movement accumulates
The ‘president’ Pere Aragonès has asserted, in the institutional message on the occasion of the dyad, that the celebration of a vote that allows the independence of Catalonia “sooner or later” reach and that the date in question will depend on the “strength that accumulates” the independence movement “Catalonia will vote again, it is inevitable” said the head of the Executiu from the Roman Forum of Empúries and, as he added, “voting and offering citizens the ability to decide the future of the country is the only way to resolve the conflict with the State”.
In the speech, the Republican said nothing about the current division in the independence movement that has led to no ‘conseller’ of his party, nor himself, participating in the former unitary demonstration of the ANC on Onze de Setembre. That yes, Aragonès called to participate in the different “acts that are organized throughout Catalonia, each one according to your convictions“, in a country “diverse and plural”.
The message of Aragonès, who flees from fixing a date for a consultation and leaves it in the hands of the accumulation of democratic support, fits like a glove with the words of the leader of his party, Oriol Junqueras to EL PERIÓDICO, this Saturday. Junqueras asserted that “time is not an independent variable of the political conflict, but rather depends on the democratic strength that we are capable of accumulating.”
He also made a positive reading of the dialogue and negotiation table with the State, yes, without citing it. Thus, he asserted that his Government is managing to “return the conflict to the political sphere, from where it should never have come out” and that “agreements have been reached to facilitate the end of repression and put an end to the threat of prosecution.” A preliminary step, “essential to facilitate a negotiation that once and for all addresses the substance of the political conflict with the State”
As on other occasions, for example in his message for Sant Esteve, issued on that occasion also outside the Palau de la Generalitat, specifically, from a school in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Aragonès has joined the leg of the ‘procés’ with the policies social. “We are redoubling our efforts to support citizens in the face of rising inflation,” he said, to sentence: “The Government is acting and we will continue to do so.”
