“If I catch you…” – PinkPantheress responds to viral Minnie Mouse song, hints at collaboration that has fans in a frenzy.
PinkPantheress could soon have unexpected company in the studio: Minnie Mouse.
The trigger is a viral TikTok clip from the Disney Jr. series “Minnie’s Bow-Toons: Pet Hotel”. In the “Galentine’s Day” episode, Minnie Mouse sings the song “My Furry Valentine”. A passionate declaration of love for your pets. The mix of children’s television, catchy pop melody and trendy sound quickly became a social media phenomenon. On the official Disney Jr. account, the clip collected millions of views within just a few days.
Doesn’t that sound like PinkPantheress?
Reason for this: The song sounds suspiciously like PinkPantheress. The characteristic high autotune voice, the dreamy beats and the playful atmosphere are strongly reminiscent of the British pop singer.
She eventually became known for her mix of UK garage, drum’n’bass and bedroom pop. You can listen to “My Furry Valentine” here:
PinkPantheress responded promptly to the viral wave. She shared a TikTok video in which she dances to “My Furry Valentine” and humorously comments on the lyrics. What was particularly striking was the text that appeared: “Oh Minnie, if I catch you…”. It made fans smile and took the parallels between their style and the Disney version to the extreme.
The swipe has an additional punchline: While Minnie is known to be a mouse, the stage name PinkPantheress can be translated as “pink big cat” – a little game of cat and mouse.
Collaboration planned long ago?
In the video caption, PinkPantheress toyed with the idea of a collaboration: “While some say she stole from my pocket, the collaboration is already on the way – and people aren’t ready.”
The fans seem excited. Comments like “OMG, PinkPantheress + Minnie = dream couple!” or even “Disney, please make it official!” show how much the community is responding to the idea. The official Disney Jr. page openly asked for a joint project in the comments section.
However, it remains to be seen whether the viral running gag will actually become a duet.
