The red and white cat that was found in a wooden box in the bushes near a meadow in Uden on Saturday appears to be seriously injured. The animal was operated on urgently. Shortly after he was accidentally found by an employee of the Hokazo animal ambulance while walking a dog, it turned out that the cat had a pumping breath.
Such pumping breathing is often caused by stress. That could be a good explanation in the situation in which the cat was found. But because the situation did not improve in the afternoon, the animal – now called Oscar – was taken to a specialist for examination.
“A collision, but also assault can be the cause.”
“Oscar has been in an oxygen chamber there for a while,” says one of the employees of the animal ambulance. “When this also did not help, a scan was made. It shows that Oscar had a diaphragmatic hernia.”
This is a hole in the diaphragm, through which his organs pass into the chest cavity, thereby compressing his lungs. “In principle, this type of internal injury indicates a trauma suffered, so a collision can be thought of, but abuse could also be a cause.”

The animal ambulance employee says that the operation is a very serious procedure. “The question is whether Oscar will make it. In any case, we keep our fingers crossed for his recovery.
