The American Carson Young sealed this Sunday a -8 under par and 272 hits in total, to add $135,000 to his bank account and the champion trophy of version number 8 of the Panama Championship course of the Korn Ferry Tour of the PGA, played at the Panama Golf Club.

In this last round, Young signed a card of -2 under the court, product of birdies on holes five and six, and worked a bogey on hole 2, to fulfill the objective, to be champion of the third stop of the PGA promotion tournament.

“I never saw the score in this last round, It wasn’t until I holed the ball on the 18th hole that my caddy told me I was the sole leader.. I just have to wait,” the 27-year-old player told EFE.

For Young this “It’s been a wonderful week”but, he stated, also “one of the most difficult”.

“The heat made the greens hard, but in the end our work on the greens was key to winning the championship”he indicated.

Already with less pressure, Young jokingly played with his mustache a bitsomething that caught the attention of those attending the club, to which the American attributed his luck in the Panamanian tournament.

“I was about to cut it (the mustache), because in two previous tournaments it had not passed the cut, but I think after today I may leave it a little longer”the golf player commented between smiles.

The Chinese Carl Yuan was the one who put the most pressure on the leader at the end of the tournamentfinishing in second square a shot short of Young.

The Argentinian Martin Contini was the best Latin American in the table of classifications, finishing in ninth place with a total of -4 and 276 hits.

“I had a good start, and today it was in my head to get into the top 10 at any cost, (although) I did not know that the day was going to be so complicatedbut I managed a round of three less than in the end it was worth it,” said the 27-year-old.

He was born in Tucumán, Argentina, added that he felt he played on two different courtsreferring to the change in weather conditions that occurred on Saturday and Sunday, which affected the dynamics of the competition.
