Caroline van der Plas is completely done with Youp van ‘t Hek. The politician finds the ‘venomous’ column that the comedian has written about farmers disgusting. “Don’t be a Youp!”
Youp van ‘t Hek has a for his column in the NRC Handelsblad cynical piece written about farm life and animal welfare. In doing so, he is responding to the concerns that farmers have about their future, now that the cabinet wants to drastically reduce nitrogen emissions. The farmers are completely done with VVD minister Christianne van der Wal.
“Don’t be a Youp!”
That column by Youp causes a lot of annoyance to Caroline van der Plas, who virtually leads the second party in the country. He is chatting from an ivory tower, the politician thinks.
She writes: “Youp van ‘t Hek has no land and a house that has been in the family for decades, sometimes centuries. Youp never has to worry about his house and land being taken. Youp doesn’t cry every day. Youp can write nasty columns about farmers because he has food three times a day. Don’t be a Youp.”
Under fire
Caroline has been under quite a lot of fire lately. One Svennus, who receives a response from the politician, tweeted about it: “Now that BBB is virtually the second party in the country, you should actually keep an eye on all newspapers and other MSM (mainstream media, ed.) in the coming weeks. ”
What are we going to see then? “The mosquitoes are becoming massive elephants, the ‘one source is no source’ rule will be trampled underfoot and opinion pages full of suspicion.”

Caroline responds to this prediction as follows: “Just do it. We just keep a cool head and keep our backs straight. There is already a movement that is trying to blacken me. They should keep doing it, it only gives BBB an advantage. People in the country are fed up with that. See also today’s poll.”
For now, she gets a lot of shit, especially on Twitter. It touches her the most when people bring her dead husband to the attention. “Bringing in my late husband to make his point. You can’t sink any lower as far as I’m concerned. Over the back of someone who is dead and whom I still miss terribly every day. Unfortunately, you also get those reactions.”
