Carnival Festival in Moergestel is cancelled: ‘Up to knees in the water’

The Karnaval Festival in Moergestel, which was planned for this weekend, has been cancelled. Due to the incessant rain in recent days, the organization of the two-day dance festival cannot guarantee safety. A dampener for what should have been a big party. “I just did another lap. They did everything they could to keep the party going. Jochem Liebregts from the organization: “We have been pumping water all week, but in the parking lot, the kiss and ride and the entire festival site is flooded. The water rises through the decking, it is impossible.” In collaboration with all safety authorities, it was decided on Thursday morning to cancel the festival.

The line-up was already announced last October with a lot of confetti: more than 150 DJs and artists at five different venues. internships and two huge fireworks shows. It’s all not possible because of the amounts of rain that have fallen. More than 45,000 visitors were expected over two days.

“It is difficult to set another date.”

“We are looking for a good solution for the people who have bought a ticket,” says Liebregts. “We have fans who come every year, so we want to arrange that well.” A party on another date is not an option, he knows. “It is tied to carnival after all. In the middle of summer would be strange. Another date is difficult anyway, because the festival year is quite full. It is difficult to choose another date.”

It’s not the first time this has happened. In 2020, the organization had to cancel Sunday for the same reason.

This is how the presale was announced.
