Carnival celebrators wanted for film about Marco Kroon, better not a frog suit

Until Wednesday, a film will be shot in Den Bosch about the most famous Dutch soldier: Marco Kroon. Kroon was given hero status and was awarded the Order of William for the extraordinary courage he displayed as a soldier in Afghanistan. After that, he was less positive in the news because of his trade in electroshock weapons and the assault of a cop during carnival. Enough food for a film about this Bossche soldier.

The film ‘De Vuurlinie’ can be seen in cinemas next year and has more Brabant elements in addition to the Brabant soldier. For example, director Roel Reiné comes from Eindhoven, although he now lives in the United States. Actor Mike Weerts from Overloon plays a comrade of Kroon in the film.

Incredibly spectacular
The recordings in Den Bosch are the first shooting days in Brabant. Previously, the recordings were in Spain and Valkenburg. “It’s always fun to play in your own province,” says Weerts from Den Bosch. “Although I also liked the shooting days in Spain. It is unbelievably spectacular what we have recorded there. You really have to see that next year,” he says, recruiting.

The recordings in Den Bosch will mainly be about the return of Marco Kroon, played by Waldemar Torenstra, after his experiences in Afghanistan. The abuse of the officer during carnival will also be filmed. Kroon was urinating in his frog suit when an officer approached him.

Building a carnival party
The carnival scenes will be recorded on Tuesday evening and extras in carnival suits are therefore still being sought. “It’s great that we can already build a carnival party,” says Mike Weerts. “You can’t start early enough with some things.” Enthusiasts can report to Torenstraat 14A at a quarter to seven on Tuesday, dressed up and ready. Although a frog suit may not be the best choice.
