It is a questionable format: in Married At First Sight people are linked together by pseudo-scientists. They do not get the chance to get to know each other, but are forced to get married immediately by the TV makers. And that leads to extremely uncomfortable situations. There is now a rape scandal surrounding the show in England.

Johan Derksen believes that RTL should follow the example of the British and stop this TV show immediately. “It should be banned. It should really be banned,” he says at the table Today Inside.
He thinks it is questionable that a big name like Carlo Boszhard continues to do this. “They take advantage of desperate people who can’t date and that’s called entertainment.”

This show is disgusting, says Johan. “It is disgusting that people dare to make this. People are all damaged in that program and it should be called entertainment.”
TV authority Tina Nijkamp states that Carlo will not budge. “I contacted RTL today and there will be a new season. Carlo Boszhard is also staying, because it scores like a charm. It scores very well.”

Johan thinks that Carlo should think about this again. “You see people who are really broken there and it all needs to be depicted. The more they cry, the better RTL thinks it is.”
Tina concludes: “Yes, the better it scores. Yes, it is sensational. It is also number one on Videoland and the Australian version is number two.”
