Carice van Houten is clearly annoyed when a reporter from RTL Boulevard asks a question about her private life. “I see where you’re going, but I’m not going to do it!”, she shouts.
After many years, actress Carice van Houten finally delivers another Dutch film: A Family, a family drama about the suffering of divorce. “It is of course a painful process for all parties, but the children ultimately bear the brunt,” she explains RTL Boulevard. “I think we can learn something from it as parents.”
In therapy
Carice was able to draw on her own experience for the film. “I am of course also a child of divorced parents, so there is a source of pain and sadness. I think I have enough to draw on.”
She continues: “In the end, and this will take x number of years of therapy, I can say that I don’t know whether I would have done it differently or better.”
Carice not happy
The RTL Boulevard reporter then gently pushes the conversation towards Carice’s own private life. “How did you ensure that your child does not look like this…”
Carice breaks in: “I like where you’re going, I see where you’re going, but I’m not gonna do it!“
The reporter: “Okay, okay.”
Carice sternly: “No, I understand, but we are here for this film.”
