Car under train: driver dies

The dramatic accident happened around six o’clock in the evening at the level crossing of the Westernieuwweg. According to the first findings, the driver would have driven between the barriers. The accident is a major nuisance for those coming from the coast. Train traffic between Ostend and Bruges is not possible. Travelers should take the coastal tram to Blankenberge to travel from there to Bruges. The NMBS is deploying replacement buses between Bruges and Ostend.
