Driving from Assen to Groningen was temporarily not possible via the A28 at the beginning of the afternoon. The highway was closed due to a car that is on fire at the Haren exit.
In the meantime, one lane has been released again. The car fire also has consequences for traffic in the other direction. The left lane is closed from Groningen to Assen. According to Rijkswaterstaat, traffic in both directions must take into account delays.
The car is completely on fire, above the highway you can see black clouds of smoke. The fire brigade has been called to extinguish the fire. As far as is known, no injuries were made.
There is now four kilometers of traffic jams on the A28 from Assen to Groningen, the delay rises to more than fifteen minutes. In the other direction, more than two kilometers of traffic jams are reported with a delay of more than five minutes.
