A car rolled over on Amersfoortseweg in Naarden this afternoon. The car hit another car in its fall and eventually came to a stop on its side. The driver was freed by firefighters after half an hour and was taken to hospital.
Firefighters cut off the top of the car to free the driver. The man was injured, but out of danger. Police suspect he made a steering error that caused the car to hit something and lose its balance.
During the fall, the car grazed a tree and fell on another car, in which Raymond and his 17-year-old son, from Nieuwegein, were sitting. Neither of them survived the accident.
“I see the car fly through the air and fall on top of my car, luckily the blow was not that bad”
Raymond says: “He wanted to overtake me, but he couldn’t because of an oncoming traffic. Then he turned right, hit a tree and skidded. I heard skidding and creaking behind me and then I see the car flying through the air and fall on top of my car. Fortunately that blow was not that bad, I’m glad we didn’t have anything left over.”
The two were picked up by Raymond’s girlfriend, his car is probably total loss. “That sucks. I just had that car new, it was only six weeks old. And I had waited so long for it. Tomorrow I’ll call the insurance.”
