On Sunday afternoon a car flew out of the bend at the airport road near Hoogeveen. The car got off the road and ended up in a ditch on his side, right next to the airport.
Emergency services arrived immediately. Ambulance personnel treated the driver on the spot and brought him to the hospital with various injuries.
The road surface was relatively slippery on the site of the accident. This happens more often after a long, dry period followed by precipitation. This creates a smooth layer on the asphalt, so that vehicles can lose grip faster.
