Giuseppe Salvalajo, a building contractor, was saved on the morning of Thursday 20 November 2025 by Elton Zefi and another person in transit on the road that runs along the Battaglia canal, in the province of Padua. According to an initial reconstruction of the facts, the man had just left his home, the historic residence Villa Molin, a masterpiece by the architect Scamozzi, when, for reasons yet to be ascertained, he lost control of his Toyota Yaris. The car ended up in the waters of the canal that connects Padua to Battaglia Terme, with the driver left in shock inside the passenger compartment. “I immediately jumped into the water – explained Elton Zefi – and in an instant, with the help of another passerby, we managed to pull out Mr Giuseppe, who I have known for some time. I wasn’t afraid, I just thought we had to act quickly”. Fear aside, the elderly man’s condition is overall good.
