On Saturday afternoon, May 10, 2008, Dick Freebird steps somewhat tense into his yellow racing car. On the sun-drenched circuit of Zandvoort, he makes his debut in the highest class of the Benelux Racing League at the annual Whitsun races. A new racing class that is quickly gaining popularity due to its resemblance to the American Nascar cars.
It is ten past two when Freebird leaves the pit lane with a roaring Ford V6 engine for the start of qualifying practice, which he ends disappointingly in 16th.
