The Arro Ypres police zone was notified of the incident at 9:12 p.m. The car not only hit an electricity pole, but also the fence of a meadow and a water retaining wall. The cause of the accident is not yet clear, but no other vehicles were involved.
There were two occupants in the car. The driver, a 27-year-old woman from Heuvelland, was unharmed. The passenger, a 22-year-old man from the same municipality, was injured and taken to hospital. The driver’s breath analysis was negative.
The Citroën C4 suffered heavy damage from the crash. Emergency services quickly arrived on the scene to get the situation under control. The falling of the electricity pole did not cause any further dangerous situations.
