A car drove into the crowd during a suspected terrorist attack on the Christmas market in the German city of Magdeburg. The emergency services are present en masse. The toll is very heavy. At least two people were killed in the attack: an adult and a young child. This is what the Prime Minister of the German state of Saxony-Anhalt, Reiner Haseloff (CDU), said. There have also been many injuries. Images show the panic after the car crashed into the crowd. The driver has been arrested. According to the German newspaper ‘Die Welt’, the suspect is a man from Saudi Arabia, who rented the car shortly before the attack. It concerns a doctor who has lived in Germany since 2006.
