Car brand Seat disappears, VW group bets on Cupra | News

Seat will continue to exist as a provider of mobility services and other models of the VW group will be built in the Seat factories, such as the upcoming VW ID.2 in the factory in Martorell.

The news does not come as a big surprise, since VW has mainly invested in Cupra in recent years and has somewhat neglected the Seat brand. According to Schäfer, it is not economically wise to invest in Seat and Cupra at the same time. Especially since Seat has not really been able to shake off the image of a somewhat outdated brand.

Seat was founded in 1950 and initially produced Fiat models under license. The brand has been part of the Volkswagen Group since 1986.
