Candidate councilor PvdA Terschelling arrested after vandalizing police car Inland

The police received a report on Tuesday morning around 11:30 am that there was a conflict on the Hoofdstraat on Terschelling. When officers arrived at the incident, the service vehicle was destroyed. This is stated by police spokesman Thijs Damstra. “The windows, among other things, have been smashed.” According to the provincial broadcaster, this was because the candidate councilor attacked the car with a pole.

Damstra: “We brought the man under control with the help of pepper spray and arrested.” He was then taken to the police station.

‘Disapprove of his behavior’

PvdA Terschelling says in a statement on Facebook that: “one of our people has had too long, too much, on his plate and seems to have perished as a result.”

Furthermore, the party writes: “We strongly disapprove of his behavior. We sympathize with everyone who has felt threatened today.”
