The Canadian men around the Olympic bronze medalist Sideris Tasiadis gave the German slalom canoeists their first gold medal at the European Championships in Liptovsky-Mikulas in Slovakia.

Augsburg’s Tasiadis, former world champion Franz Anton and Timo Trummer won the team competition on Friday ahead of Poland and Spain.

On the other hand, the women’s team of the German Canoe Association went away empty-handed on the second day of the European Championships. Canadian world champion Elena Lilik, Olympic bronze medalist Andrea Herzog and Nele Bayn had to settle for fifth place after a missed goal.

The kayak men around the Olympic bronze medalist Hannes Aigner won bronze on Thursday, the women with Olympic champion Ricarda Funk finished fifth.

The individual decisions will be made on Saturday and Sunday. On the way to the home World Cup (July 26th to July 31st) in Augsburg, the European Championship is the first endurance test of the season.
