Riley Seger is drawing a line under his career. Despite notable successes, he was denied a lasting breakthrough at the highest level.
Canadian ski racer Riley Seger has ended his career at just 28 years old. He explained his departure on Instagram: “It was an honor to represent Canada on the international stage, but I’m ready to move on and start the next chapter in my life.” The unknown that now awaits him is “scary, but I’m excited to see what the future holds,” Seger continued.
The Canadian competed 49 times in the World Cup, but his big breakthrough was denied him. He finished in the points eleven times in his career and even made it into the top ten in the Super-G in March 2023. Seger was also part of the Canadian team at the Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
He made his decision to end his career after the national championships. Looking back, he emphasized that he “looks back with joy on a time with great people.” He also said: “I would like to thank my family, my friends, sponsors, supporters and my team for the great support on this journey. Without you none of this would have been possible.”
