Canada’s national team on strike – game against Panama canceled

Quote from ZYZZonRoids

Again, the statement “insufficient appreciation” falls in connection with more money. It is high time that statements by footballers were adjusted, such as job references in Germany, such as “to our (highest) satisfaction…”.

On that subject, I can remember a time when being called up to the national team was a matter of pride and honor. Unfortunately, I can’t say whether premiums were paid back then, but circumstances like the ones experienced today definitely didn’t exist. It’s sad.

appreciation = money

Being able to read = clear advantage

Here is the letter, once chased through the translator:

Dear Canada,

We recently learned that Canada Soccer signed an agreement with Canadian Soccer Business in 2018 that has completely hampered the federation’s ability to capitalize on the success of our senior national teams on the pitch. In order to have any chance of creating substantial, lasting change for all of Canada Soccer’s programs, we must disclose and correct the terms of this agreement. We want to know who signed this agreement that handcuffed our association. Why did Canada Soccer give up the biggest opportunity in years to develop our program?

We want to work with our association, but the relationship has been strained for years. And now Canada Soccer has disrespected our team and jeopardized our efforts to raise the standard and effectively promote football in Canada.

In March we started contract talks with Canada Soccer. As executives delayed the process and took vacations, the negotiation process was unnecessarily prolonged. Canada Soccer waited until the evening of June 2 to make an archaic offer, and the general secretary and president of the federation only made themselves available to speak to the players for the first time at 4pm on June 4.

– Transparency and a review of the Canadian Soccer Business Agreement.

– A leadership team that can enhance this moment and generate corporate sponsorship revenue that should be used to advance football at all levels in the years to come (grassroots, youth, para and senior programmes).

– A level playing field with our women’s national team, which includes the same match fees, prize money percentages at our respective FIFA World Cups and the development of a women’s national league.

– A World Cup Compensation covering 40% of the prize money and a comprehensive friends and family package for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

– More former players from the men’s, women’s and para teams will be integrated into leadership positions on the Canada Soccer board and organization.

These are the fundamental elements that we will work to transform football in our country.

We would like to apologize to our fans. Playing at home, with your support, is everything for us. We hope Canada Soccer takes decisive steps to work with our team to get back on the field on June 9th.

We also want to apologize to the players, fans, staff and the federation of Panama. It is a great privilege and responsibility to represent and play for our country. We stand guard for you, for us and for generations to come.

So money is probably only of secondary importance and I find that credible in the arguments.
