Camping in your own neighborhood but completely away for a while

Cosy
There are tents, a small swimming pool, benches and there is plenty to do for the children. “We paint nails for anyone who wants it,” say Miriam and her friends. “This is different from a real campsite, but it is very cosy. I did sleep at home and not in the tent.”
Neighborhood campsite
The pop-up neighborhood camping site is also popping up in Enschede, Breda, Amsterdam and Helmond. It is a national initiative, but it mainly comes down to the local residents themselves. “Shopkeepers have sponsored drinks and food. We take care of the decoration and activities ourselves,” says one of the camping guests.
air mattress
“I didn’t sleep well,” confessed another camping guest. “I can’t do that on an air mattress, but the grandchildren are having a good time and that’s what it’s about.” For Lucinda Beems and her daughter, the temporary campsite in their own park is ideal. “Everyone does their own thing during the day, but in the morning we all have breakfast together. That gives a family feeling and is very cosy. This feels like a holiday, because there is no real travel for us.”
