Elizabeth II herself took care to remove all doubts, in the message to the nation released on the day she celebrated her 70th anniversary on the throne. The 95-year-old sovereign took the opportunity to wipe out decades of controversy and indecision, resolving once and for all the dilemma of the title that will be assigned by the duchess, when her husband Carlo ascends to the throne.
From lover of the heir to the throne to queen (consort) Camilla
The unquestionable approval surprised everyone: after all, once Elisabetta, supported by the whole nation, had expressed all her contempt for this woman, the historical lover of her son Carlo, who was also divorced. A controversial figure in and out of Buckingham Palaceuniversally considered the main cause of divorce from Diana and a serious crisis in the monarchy.

But Queen Elizabeth has adapted to the times also towards Camilla, putting years of scandals and dislikes at court on the back burner. And he did it, as always, listening to his subjects. And she continues to support her husband without ever complaining or showing off at hundreds of official events that make her one of her busiest Royals.
And in a message from Clarence House, their official London residence, Carlo showed all his gratitude to his mother Elizabeth, also paying tribute to Camilla: “We are deeply moved and honored“ said the princeadding: “My wife has always been a great support to me“.
