Andújar never adapted to the surface and has six consecutive defeats at the ATP level
The British Cameron Norrie, the first English racket, did not give Pablo Andújar an option in the first round of Wimbledon and eliminated the man from Cuenca 6-0, 7-6 (3) and 6-3.
Andújar, who became a father a few days ago, yielded in his debut at the All England Club, a tournament in which his top is the third round that he reached in 2015.
The man from Cuenca has six consecutive defeats at the ATP level and has not won on the circuit since defeating Evans in the last tournament in Marrakech. This poor run of results has made him stay in the 100th position in the world, where he had not been since May 2018, when he fell quite a bit in the ranking due to injury.
Norrie, a finalist in Queen’s last season and who had just tried himself in that tournament and in Eastbourne, will face the winner of the duel between the Brazilian Thiago Monteiro and the Spanish Jaume Munar in the second round.
Norrie’s best result at Wimbledon was the third round he reached last year, when Roger Federer knocked him out of the tournament. In fact, this is only the fourth match that the Briton has won in the London tournament.
