California Police Recruits Rabbit: Percy Takes Stress From Colleagues | The best of the web

What started as a joke has become reality. California police recruited a rabbit. The cute pet ‘Percy’ takes the stress out of his colleagues. Although Percy has only been active for a few months, the results are amazing.

“We would like to introduce welfare worker ‘Percy’”. With this Facebook message, the police of the Californian city of Yuba presented their latest addition yesterday. The bunny has the task of taking care of the mental and physical health of his colleagues. When a cop is stressed, it goes to Percy. Although the animal has not been part of the team for long, the results are amazingly positive, says Michelle Brazil of the California police.

“I love how soft he is. I think that’s what I like the most. Being able to hold him, pet him and step away from the situation is essential,” said Brazil.

Found during call

Percy’s police career began after a policewoman found him abandoned on a call. “Here bun, bun!” she cried and the animal hopped towards her. She picked up the bunny and took him to an animal shelter hoping his family would pick him up. But after several weeks, still no one had reported.

A fellow police officer therefore decided to adopt the bunny herself. Chelsea MaCready gave him a name and a home. The police department of the California city of Yuba jokingly suggested that Percy also be given a job. MaCready took the proposal a little too literally, because she has been taking him to the police station every day since then. Even when his owner doesn’t have to work, his colleagues can count on him, because Percy still works.
