The cabinet has decided to extend the National Coordinator against Discrimination and Racism (NCDR) Institute. The Council of Ministers thus approved the proposal from Minister Uitermark of the Interior.

Currently, the NCDR is working hard with the cabinet on the 3rd National Program against Discrimination and Racism. This program is drawn up by the NCDR in collaboration with the various departments. Because this is a multi -year program, the NCDR is also arrested for a long time. The institute will continue to exist until 2029.

At the same time, it was decided to change the role and design of the NCDR towards the future. The NCDR plays an important role in driving and signaling themes and must be able to perform that role in the conviction of the government independently. That is why the cabinet wants to make clearer distinction between this advisory role and the position of the cabinet, which ultimately must determine the long -term programs. By making the function of the NCDR more advisory, the independent position of the NCDR is strengthened. This also comes more in line with other government commissioners, such as the National Coordinator of Anti -Semitism (NCAB).

The approach to discrimination and racism is an important topic for the cabinet. The government program states that the government is working on tackling and the prevention of all forms of discrimination and racism. In addition to the multi -year program, the government is working on other measures. The progress letter that has also been sent today states, among other things, that, following the bill adopted by the House of Representatives, protection against discrimination on the BES is being worked there, the establishment of a combined legal aid and anti-discrimination provision. The cabinet will also start making anti -discrimination facilities to make anti -discrimination and will follow a plan for the tackling of online discrimination in the short term.
