Borussia Dortmund travels with a lot of respect to the top game in the Bundesliga against unbeaten league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
“This is the most difficult task in Germany at the moment. We have to stand our ground,” demanded defense chief Mats Hummels after BVB’s early entry into the round of 16 of the Champions League.
The runners-up are already ten points behind the Werkself after twelve match days. “They are brutal in their run,” said Austrian international Marcel Sabitzer – after all, Bayer have won all of their last eight Bundesliga games.
If they lose on Sunday (5:30 p.m./DAZN), Dortmund could probably bury all their title hopes early. “We know that we have to become more stable in the league in order to achieve our goals,” said sports director Sebastian Kehl.
