For a long time it looks like a Heidenheim surprise in Dortmund, then striker Guirassy turns up the heat. The focus is primarily on the referee.

The embarrassment was just averted: BVB took advantage of FC Bayern’s mistake and won 3-2 against bottom team Heidenheim after falling behind. After Munich’s draw against HSV, Dortmund were able to reduce the gap to the league leaders. But the Westphalians are still six points behind the record champions.

Guirassy, who had been out of form for weeks, turned the game around with a double strike (68th minute/hand penalty, 69th), but also missed another penalty kick (85th). Waldemar Anton had previously shot Dortmund into the lead, but Heidenheim’s Julian Niehues also scored a brace (45th + 5/48th) but left the outsiders dreaming of a big surprise.

Despite Dortmund’s very good position in the table, the game once again left a lot to be desired. In the first round, it was mostly hanging and choking that the 81,365 spectators saw. Dortmund played without any esprit against the bottom of the table. There was hardly any discernible offensive plan. When things got dangerous, it seemed more accidental than rehearsed. There were hardly any goal scenes.

Despite his ongoing form crisis, striker Guirassy was once again given the chance right from the start and was also involved in the BVB lead. The attacker irritated the former Dortmund player Diant Ramaj in the Heidenheim goal so much after a corner that he dropped the ball and Anton just had to push it in. The goal counted, even though referee Matthias Jöllenbeck had recently recognized that BVB goalkeeper Gregor Kobel was obstructed in a similar situation at the other end.

The already somewhat fortunate lead did not last until the break. In the penalty area, Niehues used the ball in his second attempt while falling.

After the break, Niehues even gave the big outsider the lead with a powerful long-range shot. The result was an angry concert of whistles, especially from the fans in the south stand. The whistles increased more and more and after 67 minutes, they turned into celebrations after referee Jöllenbeck subsequently awarded BVB a hand penalty after the intervention of the video referee. Guirassy scored somewhat luckily and with the help of the post to equalize.
