Clear defeat against ManCity
“Just too bad” – BVB goalkeeper with clear words

Manchester City is a size too big for BVB. The English top team’s offense is too strong for the Westphalians. An ex-Dortmunder also scores.
Erling Haaland refrained from making big gestures of celebration and hugged the disappointed Dortmund professionals one after the other. The Norwegian star striker had previously given his former club Manchester City a lesson in the Champions League, but he obviously didn’t feel much satisfaction after the 4-1 (2-0). Borussia was overwhelmed in its first defeat of the season in the premier class against Haaland’s super offensive – and offensively too harmless for a long time.
“At times it was just too bad,” said goalkeeper Gregor Kobel on DAZN. “But I think four goals are too many in the end. It’s a shame.” National player Nico Schlotterbeck also couldn’t be satisfied with the good opening quarter of an hour and a strong phase in the second half: “Nevertheless, you have to say that we deserved to lose because we simply weren’t good enough.”
The “Cityzens” offensive, which was staffed with world-class players, showed the limits of Dortmund’s recently stable defense. Phil Foden (22nd/57th minute), Haaland (29th) and substitute Rayan Cherki (90th+1) scored the goals for the hosts at the City of Manchester Stadium. Waldemar Anton (72nd) scored Dortmund’s only goal to make it 1:3.
BVB coach Niko Kovač had already sensed before the game how difficult Haaland would be to defend. “He’s amazing, difficult to defend, especially alone,” said Kovač before kick-off on DAZN, “we have to do that as a group.” As is well known, that didn’t always work in the end.
