BVB opponents FC Copenhagen parted ways with coach Jess Thorup

Dortmund’s CL opponents

Two weeks after the 3-0 defeat at Borussia Dortmund, troubled Champions League participants FC Copenhagen have fired their head coach Jess Thorup. The collaboration with the 52-year-old Dane will end after almost two years with immediate effect, as the club announced on Tuesday. The previous assistant coach Jacob Neestrup (34), who was tied until 2026, will take over his post.

The Danish record champions lost 3-0 in Dortmund at the start of the Champions League group stage and then scored a point in a 0-0 draw at home against Sevilla. Internationally, the next difficult showdown with Manchester City around star striker Erling Haaland awaits the Danes in two weeks. BVB will then be guests at Copenhagen’s Parken Stadium on November 2nd. In the domestic Superliga, the reigning champions are currently only in a disappointing ninth place, fourth from last.
